SELF-CARE is to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself. It means doing things to take care of your MIND, BODY and SOUL by engaging in activities that promote your well being and reduces stress.

SELF-CARE = SELF LOVE

The practice of self-care is a reminder that you are worth it! and that your needs are valid.

They are 7 types of self-care:

  1. MENTAL: Mental self-care is about nurturing a healthy mindset through mindfulness and curiosity. You can do this through journaling, meditation, create a vision board, practice gratitude, take a break from TV and social media..

  2. EMOTIONAL: Emotional self-care involves taking care of your heart with healthy coping strategies for any stresses that might occur in your daily life. watch your favorite movie, listen to music , write a positive affirmation to yourself and do not hesitate to ask others for help when you need. Set boundaries to protect yourself and heart.

  3. PHYSICAL: Physical self-care involves taking care of your body with rest, nutrition and movement. Eat balanced meals at regular time, drink plenty of water, take a multi vitamin and make sure you get plenty of rest. Taking care of your skin is self-care, when your skin looks good you feel more confident and ready to conquer the world!! ;))

  4. ENVIRONMENTAL: to practice environmental self-care is to take care of the place around you and the places you love. Make your bedroom peaceful, declutter, re-organize your closet or kitchen cabinet. Take a walk in nature and fully appreciate the moment.

  5. SPIRITUAL: Spiritual self-care involves activities that gives you a sense of meaning to your life. Find a community, volunteer. identify values that are most important to you.

  6. RECREATIONAL: It’ s important to make time for hobbies, fun activities and new experiences. Take up golfing, tennis, gardening, go see a movie or go to the museum…..

  7. SOCIAL: Build relationship and make healthy connections with healthy boundaries. Connect with friends that elevate you!

    When you are feeling stressed or depressed listen to your body and the type of self-care it needs. Taking time for you is absolutely a must to maintain overall health and wellness.
